Instituto Nacional de Cirugia Cardíaca (INCC)
Situated in Montevideo, Uruguay, the INCC has performed more than 45,000
invasive procedures since 1976, including MP, CABG and APTC (PTCA), with
stent implants. The INCC also maintains a national network for cardiac image
transmission over the internet. This Spanish-language site offers information,
image submission and links to other cardiology sites.

The Radial Force
The Radial Force is a working group of transradial coronary angioplasters. The

Radiological Society of North America
Major national organization dedicated to continuing scientific education to
radiologists, physicists and allied scientists. Holds an annual meeting in Chicago,
usually at the end of November.

Società Italiana Cardiologi (S.I.C.)
The home page for the Italian Society of Cardiology contains the table of contents
for the most recent issue of Cardiologia, the official publication of the Society,
and a listing of the Scientific Committee members. The site is in Italian.
The Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions
Founded in 1976 by Melvin Judkins and F. Mason Sones, emphasis is placed on
the development of quality standards for laboratories, establishment of criteria for
credentialing physicians and directors and presentation of guidelines for training
in cardiac catheterization and angiography.
The Society for Vascular Medicine and Biology
Founded in 1989, the goals of this society are to improve the integration of
vascular biological advances into medical practice, and to maintain high standards
of clinical vascular medicine. The Society is distinguished by its emphasis on
clinical approaches to vascular disorders.
Society of Cardiovascular & Interventional Radiology (SCVIR)
Contains meeting information, patient and educational materials; holds an annual

Asian Cardiovascular & Thoracic Annals
This affiliated journal of the Asian-Pacific Society of Cardiology is described as
"the voice of cardiac medicine in Asia". ACTA states its mission to "provide a
continuing forum whereby clinicians from all cardiac communities in Asia and the
Pacific Rim can carefully review, interpret and guide the momentous forces of
change influencing delivery of quality, cost-effective healthcare to our patient
population." .
Cardiac Consult Magazine
This online journal from Cleveland Clinic Heart Center specialists covers a number
of topics from "Bypass Surgery in Women" to "Operator Volume Predicts
Outcome in PTCA". Articles from Spring of 1995 through Fall of 1997 are
accessible.
Cardiology Today
This relatively new online version of the monthly newspaper, published by Slack,
Inc., offers articles from the current issue, as well as archives back to October 1997.
There are also provisions for discussion topics and other future features.
Catheterization and Cardiovascular Diagnosis
Published by John Wiley & Sons, Inc., this is the official journal of the Society for
Cardiac Angiography. The journal focuses on material of "immediate practical
value" to clinicians. A wide range of peer-reviewed articles and commentaries
covers controversial subjects and evolving technologies. Wiley Interscience is
currently providing guest access at no charge to CCD and their entire line of
journals (register on this site).
Circulation
This site contains current and archived issues of this American Heart Association
journal. You can search and access more than 30 years' worth of articles — full
text. If you are not a member of the AHA, or a subscriber to the journal, you can
still search, but display is limited to abstracts.
Clinical Cardiology
Journal provides a forum for the coordination of clinical research in cardiology and
cardiovascular surgery; includes editorials, articles in brief, reviews, clinical
investigations, short communications, letters to the editor, calendars of continuing
medical education, and book reviews. Some article on full-text online, others are
abstracted or bibliographic references.
Herz (Heart)
The official publication of the BNK or Bundesverband Niedergelassener
Kardiologen, (Germany Society of Cardiologists in Private Practice). This journal
can be searched for articles, using keywords in German or English. The 1998/3
issue is now online.
Interventional Cardiology Newsletter
This journal is published by Elsevier. This page contains a description of the
journal, ordering information and a request for a free sample copy.
Intravascular Imaging
This is the web edition of the quarterly current awareness journal dedicated to
intravascular imaging techniques. Supported by Cordis, the site comprises review
articles on imaging topics by international opinion leaders, a searchable database
of key papers selected by the editorial team from the international literature from
October 1996 through to today, annotated case histories and reports from
international meetings and symposia. The site also provides an opportunity to

This international journal now offers free online registration. An added "factoid" is
that the very first published announcement of PTCA in humans was a letter to the

Physician's Guide to the Internet
A general "zine" (an online magazine) for physicians, this site covers a wide range
of topics, such as lifestyles, the arts, personal finance, etc., and is not in any way
targeted towards cardiology, but certainly of interest to practicing physicians.
Physicians' Press Bookstore
A number of manuals and references on interventional cardiology are available for
purchase. These include titles such as "The Stenter's Notebook" and

Seminars in Interventional Cardiology
Edited by Patrick W. Serruys, M.D. and published quarterly, this is a topical,
research-based review journal that presents a comprehensive view of a rapidly

American Heart Association — Resources for Information
A good starting list of other cardiology resources on the Internet, listing many of
the major sites
Andrew B. Chung, MD/PhD — A Physician's Guide to Medical Resources on the Web
Dr. Chung is Emory (Atlanta, Georgia, USA) affiliated and has put together an
interesting site, filled with medical links with many in the cardiology area. A
self-confessed email "junkie", Dr. Chung's site is a good example of what can be
done by an independent publisher on the World Wide Web.
Atlanta Cardiology Group
Founded in 1967 by Arnoldo Fiedotin, M.D., this group is associated closely with
Saint Joseph's Hospital of Atlanta, which initiated the first comprehensive cardiac
catheterization laboratory in Georgia and was the first center in the southeastern
U.S. to perform coronary angioplasty. This site is for everyone with an interest in
health concerns and specifically, cardiology. Whether you have questions
concerning your own situation, need help for a paper for school or work, or are
interested in complex interventional procedures, you will find something here. This
site is updated frequently.
Cardiac Anatomy
A graphical study guide for students of anatomy with quizzes, etc., this site is
adapted from a CD-ROM and is published by the University of Washington
Health Sciences Center for Educational Resources. If you connect by standard
telephone lines, the graphics can be slow.
Cardiology Compass
A site full of cardiology links — originally developed by John Murphy, MD at
Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri, USA, this site
is now maintained and supported by Dr. Murphy as a service to the clinical
community. Like many sites listed here, this is another good example of what one
person can accomplish on this most interesting medium, the Internet.

This group, based in Beverly Hills, is affiliated with the Cardiovascular Medical

The Healthlinks.net directory lists web sites that offer professional-level
healthcare information. Their descriptions are unbiased, third-party reviews.
Before a site is added, it must be approved by a review panel of healthcare
professionals. Although normally a password-restricted site, it is currently
